ONLINE CLASS: Lighten Up, Use the ISO to Your Advantage

DATES: 08/26/2021 - 08/26/2021
PRICE: $35.00

Chris Corradino is a licensed photo instructor who works with students of all experience levels. Recent teaching experience includes 10 years with the New York Institute of Photography, a residency at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park, and leading international workshops in Italy, the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and New Zealand. Smithsonian Journeys recently recognized these efforts by naming him a Study Leader. His work has been internationally published including USA Today, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic online, and most recently the prestigious Mint Images catalog. As the author of three eBooks and over 200 how-to articles, Corradino has developed proven methods that inspire and challenge photographers to fulfill their creative dreams.

In Chris’s own words:

Through the lens, I learn more about myself and the world around me. From the fragile beauty of a fleeting moment, to the destructive capabilities of man and nature, my camera is a vessel of self expression. Though this journey began as a personal one, I’ve had the honor of sharing my images with a worldwide audience.

While I’m truly proud of these accomplishments, perhaps my greatest joy comes from teaching others how to control their camera and fulfill their creative vision. I provide personalized instruction to students of all experience levels.

I’ll admit to sitting in a small wooden blind for several hours waiting for a bird to appear, and waking up long before sunrise to capture a mountain range bathed in morning light. Yet, as majestic as these scenes are, I find even greater satisfaction in creating a unique photograph of something that would have otherwise gone by unnoticed. It’s this elusive pursuit that inspires me to press the shutter and study life, one frame at a time.

I had the BEST 9 days and I wish to thank you very much indeed for being such as excellent instructor. I learnt heaps and enjoyed every minute of our trips to Siena, Florence, Cortona, San Giovanni – the early morning shoots and the wonderful evening location in Florence. My understanding of my camera and the knowledge of what it is capable of is all thanks to you. Your advice of cropping – not too much sky etc – was a valuable lesson to learn and certainly improved my pictures. -Gabriella

Chris led the Il Chiostro-Upside Down photography workshop in New Zealand in March, 2019 and has now moved permanently to New Zealand to start a family. Watch his photographic video One Year in New Zealand.

ISO Is your Friend

What if I told you there was a way to prevent underexposed images with just one button? You are in luck, as this feature already exists. It’s called the ISO, and it’s one of the most powerful yet least understood settings for many photography students. Whether you’re using a smartphone, a DSLR, or a Mirrorless camera, you can utilize this functionality right now.
This is part three of a three-part series on the essential camera settings. We will start with Aperture in class 1, dive into Shutter Speeds in class 2, and finally reveal the power of the ISO in class 3.
The first half of the class will be Chris’s fully illustrated presentation with plenty of photo examples.    That will be followed by a group discussion with plenty of time for questions and answers.

Class Date:  Thursday, August 26, 2021

Time:  5pm ET (That is 4pm Central time, 3pm Mountain time and 2pm Pacific time and 9am in New Zealand)

Length of Class:  approximately 1 1/2 hrs. (1 hour presentation plus discussion and Q&A.)

Price:  $35
