Chris Corradino is a licensed photo instructor who works with students of all experience levels. Recent teaching experience includes 10 years with the New York Institute of Photography, a residency at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park, and leading international workshops in Italy, the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and New Zealand. Smithsonian Journeys recently recognized these efforts by naming him a Study Leader. His work has been internationally published including USA Today, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic online, and most recently the prestigious Mint Images catalog. As the author of three eBooks and over 200 how-to articles, Corradino has developed proven methods that inspire and challenge photographers to fulfill their creative dreams.

In Chris’s own words:

Through the lens, I learn more about myself and the world around me. From the fragile beauty of a fleeting moment, to the destructive capabilities of man and nature, my camera is a vessel of self expression. Though this journey began as a personal one, I’ve had the honor of sharing my images with a worldwide audience.

While I’m truly proud of these accomplishments, perhaps my greatest joy comes from teaching others how to control their camera and fulfill their creative vision. I provide personalized instruction to students of all experience levels.

I’ll admit to sitting in a small wooden blind for several hours waiting for a bird to appear, and waking up long before sunrise to capture a mountain range bathed in morning light. Yet, as majestic as these scenes are, I find even greater satisfaction in creating a unique photograph of something that would have otherwise gone by unnoticed. It’s this elusive pursuit that inspires me to press the shutter and study life, one frame at a time.

 Testimonial:

I had the BEST 9 days and I wish to thank you very much indeed for being such as excellent instructor. I learnt heaps and enjoyed every minute of our trips to Siena, Florence, Cortona, San Giovanni – the early morning shoots and the wonderful evening location in Florence. My understanding of my camera and the knowledge of what it is capable of is all thanks to you. Your advice of cropping – not too much sky etc – was a valuable lesson to learn and certainly improved my pictures. -Gabriella

Chris led the Il Chiostro-Upside Down photography workshop in New Zealand in March, 2019 and has now moved permanently to New Zealand to start a family.

Learn How to Use Lightroom

This is a HANDS-ON class to teach photographers the powerful art of editing images in Adobe Lightroom.  This is a 4-week series, each class is 2 hours.

Lightroom is a very powerful program that enables users to enhance their photos by emphasizing areas, moving or removing objects, changing hues, etc.  But you can’t learn this program just by watching someone else use it.  You need to actually do it – make mistakes, ask questions in real time and get immediate feedback.

In this course, Chris, our Photo Whisperer, will take participants through various exercises to teach the basic techniques of Lightroom.  Chris will demonstrate each technique, then allow the students to practice those techniques during the class.

How the Class will Work:

  • For each technique he presents, Chris will demonstrate it using one of his own photos.  There will be ample time for questions.
  • Chris will provide a new photo and give everyone time to work on an exercise practice those same techniques.
  • When the time is up, everyone will show their finished image using Screen Share, with an open discussion forum.
  • Repeat the process:  Chris will present more techniques, the students will have class time to work on an assignment, show their finished images with time for discussion, questions and feedback.
  • Once these cycles are completed, Chris will assign an exercise encompassing all the techniques covered in that class for the students to do during the week on one of their own photos.
  • The class will be recorded and sent to everyone afterwards.
  • The next class will begin with each student showing their original photo and the version edited in Lightroom.
  • Repeat the steps above.
My mission with the camera was and still is, to shed light on what is otherwise unseen.
What is it that you want to share with the world?
