Bella Italia, Italy through the eyes of an Artist by Pat Fiorello

Pat Fiorello has been teaching painting at Il Chiostro for several years.  This book contains over 80 of her paintings of Italy, including many from places which will be familiar to Il Chiostro alumni:  Lake Garda, Tuscany, Florence, Siena, and Venice.

Fiorello invites readers on an irresistible visual journey to share in her most vibrant memories of Italy—its grandeur and splendid views of sparkling blue lakes, breathtaking hilltops, quaint villages and sunlit gardens. Because of her reverence for exquisite light and color, the works of art emanating from Fiorello’s easel beckon viewers to open their eyes more fully, and to breathe in all the enchanting sights—near and far—that the world has to offer.

Learn how to lift your watercolor paintings up to the next level

Join Pat Fiorello for this special 2 hour instructional session. Pat will share painting insights and instruction prompted by review and critique of work submitted by students. In reviewing actual work, Pat will take the principles of art from the conceptual to the practical, showing how they will make a difference in your paintings and elevate your art skills.

In the practice of art, we have to accept we are going to make a lot of paintings that just don’t work out.  But there is tremendous value if we can learn from those unsuccessful paintings. That’s what growth is all about – learning from our failures.  Over time our “batting average” as an artist will improve by approaching each painting as an opportunity to learn something that we’ll bring into the next painting.    In this session, we’ll accelerate learning  not only by learning from your own paintings, but from those of others as well.  The accelerated learning from critiques can turbo charge your learning curve.

People who are committed to growth and excellence often have a coach. The coach helps them see what might be missing that, if put in, would elevate their game.

In the same way, this program is an opportunity to learn by looking at many examples. Each student submits 1  independently created painting prior to the session. Pat will share her screen to display each painting.  All participants can watch together as Pat reviews each image.  She will help each artist to see what’s working and what might not be working as well as it could be. Often a few adjustments can really elevate your painting to a new level of beauty and impact.  You will learn not only from hearing Pat review your own work, but by looking at paintings from everyone in this group setting. Exposure to many examples, including the works of others, accelerates your learning.

Pat is know for providing honest, practical and concrete feedback on composition and technique that can be applied to make a difference in your artwork.  In the course of the critique, as opportunities arise, Pat provides lessons and tips on value, color, edges and design for all to learn from. Questions and interaction are encouraged.

Each student can submit 1 painting for feedback.  Paintings should be submitted by email to 48 hours in advance of the class.  Include reference photos, if available.
