Il Chiostro Art Talks-Inspiration (recording)
Filling the Blank Canvas: Inspiration, Composition, Adding the Magic
Inspiration – this live session took place on Friday, April 8. We invite you to view the recording at:
Welcome to our Art Talks series. Over 3 Friday talks, you will have the opportunity to hear a variety of Il Chiostro instructors talk about their own artwork and discuss their processes. To begin we have scheduled 3 informal talks on Fridays this spring at 4pm (Eastern Time). Each week will feature one of the topics above: what inspires your artwork? how to create the most effective composition and finally, how do you add the finishing touches that will make your painting sing?
In each session we’ll invite 2 or 3 instructors who have taught with us in Italy and, more recently, online. Using the topic of the week as the jumping off point, the instructors will discuss their approach to their art using their own paintings as illustrations. In each session the moderator will facilitate the discussion with interaction between the artists and the audience. All sessions will be recorded for later reviewing or sharing.
Schedule:
- Friday, April 8, 4pm – Inspiration, featuring artists Pat Fiorello, Sharon Pitts and Jan Guarino (recording only)
- Friday, April 22, 4pm – Composition, featuring artists Pablo Contrisciani, Susan Blackwood and Marc Josloff
- Friday, April 29, 4pm – Adding the Magic, featuring Lynn Stender and Howard Friedland
We invite you to listen to the recordings of these talks.
All Talks are free.
Inspiration – this is the starting point for any artist. What draws them to want to paint a particular subject? How do they decide what they want to communicate with the viewer? What about themselves are they trying to express?
