What is Il Chiostro - from the Directors
"Thank you for providing a model of how to construct a good life!" S.P. 2009
Il Chiostro (meaning "the cloister" in Italian) organizes arts, culinary and personal development workshops in Italy. We`ve been doing this since 1995 because we love Italy and want to bring what we see as the authentic spirit of Italy and Italians to our guests.
People who travel with Il Chiostro tell us that they feel like they are staying with friends who live in Italy. We look for authentic, intimate venues that will allow people to feel a part of the real Italy. We provide food and wine that the local people eat. In fact, our alumni have coined the term "the Il Chiostro Experience" for the unique mode of travel we offer.
As we prepare for our new Season we are excited to welcome back so many of our veteran instructors while also introducing a few new experts. This year our venues include the Tuscan Renaissance Center outside of Siena, Venice in October, the Dievole Chianti Classico winery at the end of October and our newest venue, the palazzo nobile of San Giovanni d`Asso.
Once you have completed an Il Chiostro workshop, we like to maintain the family ties. Every year we offer the opportunity for all of our alumni to exhibit their artwork at a gallery in New York City. This year the exhibit is LUCE: the Magic of Italian Light presented at the Calumet Gallery in Chelsea, NY from March 24-April 7th. Join us at the artists` reception on Saturday, March 29th.
We hope that this will be the year that you find yourself in Italy with Il Chiostro.

"Words cannot express how much my time with all of you meant to me. I do still have the halo around me...and I know it will remain with me because it is radiating from my heart! Hopefully, the wonderful healing energies from Il Chiostro will now flow through me to others (especially through my paint brush). I will be seeing all of you again because I will be back...in fact, you will have to put up with me at least once a year." - SS, Florida
