This will be the 9th annual New York art exhibit for Il Chiostro alumni. It will be a mixture of original artwork done by both instructors and participants during our art workshops in Italy.
The exhibit will be at the Calumet Gallery at 22 W. 22nd Street, NY, NY.
This year the jury selected the images for the show based on the theme of Italian light from over 350 pieces submitted by almost 90 artists. They included painting in all media, photography (including manipulated iPhone photography), mixed media-collage, and sculpture.
Remember, the jury is totally independent from Il Chiostro. The judges are artists who have never been to Italy with Il Chiostro and are not affiliated with us in any way. The process is always blind: all images are coded so the artist`s identity is not known.
This year the jurors were Siddhia Hutchinson and Glen Wielgus. Siddhia is an artist who owns the Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Glen is a plein air painter originally from Deerfield, IL who now lives and works in Manhattan. Visit his site at glenwielgus.com.
We look forward to another dynamic, colorful show that brings a little bit of the spirit of Italy to NY in March.
We invite you to take a virtual tour of last year`s show, A Flavor of Italy
