Enjoy a week painting under the Tuscan Sun!
This program will immerse you in the beauty of the Italian Countryside.
We will paint on location each day, primarily on the grounds of the San Fedele monastery where we are staying which has breathtaking views in all directions. We will also go on a couple of field trips to other towns in Tuscany. In case of inclement weather there is studio space available.
Special emphasis will be given to simplifying what you see in front of you and designing strong compositions for your paintings. Attention will be given to loosening up to capture the essence and sense of place as well as instruction on value and mixing colors. Program will include a combination of short demonstrations or lessons, individual student painting time with instructor guidance as desired and critiques throughout the week.
Open to students of all levels. Demonstrations and instruction will be in watercolor, but the program is open to students in all mediums.
Activities: Our daily painting will be combined with other adventures such as:
- visiting medieval Siena to sketch, take photo`s, wander and shop
- tasting the wine that is growing all about us in a local Chianti winery
- exploring other small hilltowns (Radda, Volpaia, ...) to paint on location or just relax at a cafe
- hiking through the vineyards, olive groves and villages
We`ll use our restored monastery as a home base, returning each evening for a home-made Tuscan meal and good company. Stay with the group or go off on your own. Our purpose is to paint, explore and enjoy the beauty of Italy.

Supplements: $550 for single room-limited availability; $150 p/p for Jr. Suite
Includes:
- Shared double room in restored monastery
- Daily traditional breakfast and dinner, including wine
- Daily plein air classes and critiques
- Excursion to Siena
- ½ day excursion to nearby hilltown (Monteriggioni, Radda, Volpaia…)
- Pick up from Florence train station at 3:30pm on arrival Saturday
- Transfer to bus/train station in Siena on final day

- Lunch (lite lunch will be available for 15 euros on days we are not out on excursion)
